About this Vehicle

A fantastic looking van in my opinion, and in the opinion of many others aswell… our VW LT46 is a rarity in more ways than one, with it being a rust free, crew cab LT with twin side loading doors!

3 seats upfront, 6 more in the rear, with a partition behind the rear seats to give you a handy amount of loading space.

Chassis

A great chassis, proven time and time again by Volkswagen and Mercedes to be more than up to a variety of different jobs, all the way from cherry pickers to courier vehicles. The one bug bear found on this chassis however is corrosion. And a lot of it, at that. In many cases the outstanding engines put in these vehicles are overshadowed by said corrosion, with many engines outlasting the inevitable demise of these vans due to catastrophic rot-related MOT failures.

However, once in a blue moon you will find an LT, or a sprinter that hasn’t been infected by the disease we like to call corrosion, and this is one of those examples. A quick glance at the MOT history will show you that this vehicle has never had an advisory for corrosion in its 18 years of service, and our inspections have verified that this isn’t subject to change in the near future.

Mechanical

A perfect combination, 6 speed manual with Volkswagens notoriously reliable 2.5 TDI engine in front of it. So reliable, in fact, that Volkswagen put their money where their mouth is and gave a 3 year, or 100,000 mile warranty from factory! You have reliability and convenience in unison underneath you with good torque, horsepower, and honorable fuel economy for the size of the vehicle at around 30mpg.

License

Typically, this van would be a 4.6 tonne vehicle, meaning it can only be driven on a C1 license. Unless you have passed your test before 1 jan 1997, you will have needed an additional license to drive such vehicles. However, this vehicle has been downrated at some point in its life, meaning the vehicle now comes in at 3500kg, and able to be driven on a standard B license!
